What started out as dinner and a movie (with lots of wine) evolved into an intimate conversation about our love for new experiences, especially through travel. As you might imagine, the movie never happened. Instead a shared dream of exploring ourselves through wanderlust adventures was born.
As primary teachers working with Spanish-speaking students and families, Nicole and I converged from opposite coasts to meet in the most unlikely place of Clearwater, Florida. Summer’s parents are immigrants from Taiwan and China while Nicole’s parents are immigrants from Jamaica, both in search of the American Dream: creating a better life for their children.
While most take high school Spanish as a requirement and immediately forget it, Nicole and I have embraced it, taking every opportunity to broaden our understanding of this unique language and culture. Our mission is to embark upon a journey with open eyes and hearts, to connect with local individuals sharing life from their perspectives.
